Research activities at CNAO
In a Centre of Hadrontherapy- an avant-garde radiotherapy technique to treat tumours-, it is essential to carry out research activities by implementing projects in all the scientific sectors in which the Center is involved, with the strategic objective of continuously improving the treatments.

The ENLIGHT (European Network for Light Ion Hadron Therapy) platform was created in 2002. It is a network of over 300 members from 20 European countries, whose aim is to bring together different professionals who share their experiences and interests in therapies that involve using particles.

The clinical research studies conducted at CNAO aimed at checking the results of hadrontherapy treatments applied to different kinds of tumours as well as how efficient these treatments are when used in conjunction with other methods/ techniques, such as surgery or hormone therapy.
