Anonymous faces, so many new people meeting in the waiting;rooms and hospital beds that look like the new battlefields where a thousand different and parallel stories are slowly told like inside a big jigsaw puzzle, each piece is made up and;grips...! Now, modern battles of an unknown war are being fought here. The most important war in life, sneaky and invisible. Doctors, nurses and technicians are angels who assist patients in the war against tumours, the most difficult one to be faced by a vulnerable person. Modern Angels administer devastating chemotherapy and radiotherapy to today’s soldiers to fight this strange, atrocious, but winnable war! Too bad that, only now, in these excellent facilities, we can understand how precious and important simple normal life was and how easy it is to see it gradually fade away...! Perceiving in everyone’s eyes the;clinging to a habitual life strip...! Because it only takes a little bit to lose it forever when dying...! How beautiful it is to just taste the gift of life and to see in every course of treatment the hard, exhausting efforts that are made to come back and simply live moments of life again...!!! Here, now, after these sad experiences everyone understands that more than anything else in the world, life is really precious!!! Elena I dedicate this short poem and a special THANKS to all the Hadrontherapy staff at the CNAO of Pavia, who have welcomed us, treated us and supported us both physically and even more psychologically, like the modern Angels of today.
