Thanks CNAO, especially to Dr Fossati.
Good evening, Just over a year later, we would like to thank the all the staff from the CNAO, and especially Dr Fossati for his dedication and the treatments given to our mother, Angela Scalas. It all started in August 2013 when mom complained of a;small swollen; gland behind the auricle and a feeling of;obstruction; in her throat. This was followed by days of waiting, examinations, visits, treatments and hospitals, until the diagnosis in September:;CERVICAL CHORDOMA OF C3-C4;. We immediately understood the seriousness of the situation, and in Cagliari, where we live, doctors soon talk about surgical resection of the extra vertebral portion. This is a difficult intervention, not decisive, disabling and perhaps more useless and harmful than any other option. There was a succession of decisions between the;otolaryngologist and the neurosurgeon that took a long time. At the same time, I, the daughter, was working to find alternative solutions. And I found them in Lombardy. I do not speak at length on the;procedure also because Dr Fossati, once he saw my moms MRI, contacted us immediately for an appointment. He treated mom as if she was his own mother, and patiently and clearly listed the different therapeutic opportunities, guiding us towards the difficult decision. Mom chose the hadrontherapy treatment at the CNAO as the only treatment route. She moved to Pavia with dad for 45 days and completed the cycle of 16 sessions. Today, more than a year later, the follow-up visits reveal a clear withering of the mass with great joy for us and the;CNAO team. A non-invasive therapy, without side effects and without hospitalisation, which has allowed a year of;normal life;, completely healthy after the horrendous diagnosis. It is really already more than we could have hoped a year ago. Thanks CNAO, The Scalas family
