CNAO: risk of closure due to lack of funds
Dear Dr Vitolo, We have learned with real dismay from Rai News 24 the news that the wonderful facility called CNAO runs a serious risk of being closed down due to lack of funds. We were shocked, and I wanted to get in touch with you to find out if we - as users - could do any supporting action; we are very willing to express our opinion on the facility itself. My husband, Poggi Secondino, underwent a treatment consisting of 37 sessions scheduled for his disease from August to October 2012. During all this period he was accompanied in an exemplary manner by a staff of highly qualified professionals who are also endowed with humanity difficult to find in other facilities. He is still a CNAO patient as far as the periodic check-ups are concerned, which are almost as important and reassuring as the treatment itself. I cannot even imagine what our situation would have been if we had had to go to facilities located;abroad for the treatment my husband needed. It is truly incomprehensible that an;Italian excellence should be under such risks. We hope that the top leaders of this country will be able to find a solution to the situation so as not to deprive so many people of such an effective treatment or force them to spend long stays;abroad, and we are very willing to take any initiative that may be useful, including a march in Rome if necessary. With unfailing gratitude for your work, kind regards, Poggi Secondino and Annamaria Garetti
